Churches of Vatoussa
The old Church of the Archangels built in 1832
The Interior of the church is now being restored. The photo
on the right and the two below are of the ceiling. The mausoleums and tombs
that are shown here are made of marble. Generally in Greece, the bones
of the dead are removed after several years to make space for others since
land is scarce. In the small sheds by the rear wall of the coutyard are
the remains of dead. Their bones have been dug up, cleaned and kept in
wooden boxes on shelves.
